We come from the ground, and we go back to the ground.

The commitment to manual processes permeates every project of mine, reflecting the essence of shamanism and funerals that machines cannot replace. In these rituals, every step requires hands-on involvement, from preparing food for the spirits to creating artefacts and wrapping the body. Inspired by this manual approach, I incorporate it into my artistic practice. I explore rituals in Korean shamanism, using sambae fabric - a textile traditionally used in funeral rites - as a material link between displaced people in Korea and the grieving process.
